bi,pan,poly,omni,ambi

Sometimes names for sexuality  are closely linked or very alike and since my last post was about umbrella terms I'm going to make a post about three very alike sexual identities or sexual identities related to one another. Bisexual and ambisexual are pretty much interchangeable amibisexual and bisexual is often put as liking both the same and opposite sex. Pansexual and omnisexual have very similar definitions pan being an ancient greek term meaning all and Omni comes from a latin term meaning all. Omni and pansexual mean that gender and sex have no part in a person's sexual attraction. Polysexual (a sexuality I wish was more talked about) means that you're attracted to many or more than one sex or gender but not all.

Umbrella term what I mean

An umbrella term is a word that a number of other words can go under as a type of category. I kind of use umbrella term a lot and thought it might be a good idea to explain it. An example of a way I would be using this word is explaining why I call myself transgender meaning someone who identifies as another gender then they where born with meaning that people of many different genders can be put into this category or under this umbrella term not just mtf or ftm. I'm not sure if  its a popular belief to think transgender only refers to mtf and ftm individuals but I have met a lot of people who believe it to be the truth and its resulted in a lot of confusion. I also use it to explain why I call myself bisexual on occasion which means attracted to both girls and boys but can also be described as a continuum. In the end its kind of debatable because I've seen different definitions floating around and Wikipedia seems to agree with me on that one. I want to point out I don't base the reason I call myself bisexsual at times wholly on that though since my main reason for doing so is to avoid explaining pansexuality to someone (yeah I know I'm a perfect citizen) I think its better to raise awareness for something when you actually want to do it.
